Yesenia: What social justice mean to me is to fight for our privileges, equal right and equal distribution of wealth. During the years of attending social justice high school I have heard the words social justice so often in many concepts.I have learn that social justice is coming together as a groups to help each other out to fight for what we want, to not just arguer but also do something about it.In the issue of gang violence i believe their should be many more resources to help prevent teenagers from joining a gang organization. If we aren't willing to do anything to help prevent teen from joining a gang,Gang violence will never end and the rate of of member in a gang activity will keep increasing.
Diana:"Social Justice" — I’ve heard this term throughout my entire four years here at Social Justice High School. Every time I hear “social justice”, I relate it that it brings together people of different color ,the different fait there is , the traditions, and young people who want to make the world a better place. I think it means fighting against any kind of injustice for example like oppression, exploitation, discrimination, environmental racism, all of those things that . I think that there’s nothing that could be more fulfilling than working to make it happen. This is not a pleasant world where those things are just going to come about because we want them. So it implies the struggle for those things as well.I believe that we live in an unequal and unjust world, which is a barrier when seeking social justice.Billions of people living on less than $2 a day on the planet. We haven't achieved social justice yet because there are many inequalities now in days that we still face in our daily lives. Yet we as people don’t do anything to change this society we live in. There are many injustices that don’t receive fairness. Many people are being treated unfair for the simper fact of who they are. Many people stereotype you because the way you look or even the way you sound.
Yelitza: To me Social Justice means power, a power in which we achieve by standing out for what believe to be right whether it be by ourselves or with a group of people coming together to make a difference to better our lives. Social Justice is something you hear various times and in various places, in particular in the past four years of attending Social Justice High School I've hear the term “Social Justice” many times and it has been shown as well. Over the last four years my definition of what social justice means to me has become clearer and more present. We practice social justice every day in our classes whether we notice it or not there’s always something to show us the meaning of social justice. There have been many occasions in which our school as a whole has come together as one to fight what is right and we've demonstrated the concept of social justice, for example when our AP classes were taken away from us most of the Social Justice students sat out in order to show that we would fight to get our classes back. Many times, however, we face various obstacles in which it makes it difficult for us to achieve social justice. Many times we are put in difficult situations and we do not know how to fix them to solve the problem whether it is for economic reasons, physical reasons, emotional reasons, etc. There are many ways in which we can use strategies and techniques to help us achieve social justice, in example boycotts, petitions, and social media are a few of the ways in which we can go on in approaching a situation. These strategies and techniques are used all over the world. My role in the struggle for social justice is to be one with my classmates and staff to fight for what is right in order to make a more peaceful environment for everyone surrounding us. Gang violence is a very serious problem all throughout the country, and it is a very big problem in our communities to the point which we don’t always feel safe to be in our neighborhoods. Yet again the big question is why is it that gang violence is such a big problem in our communities, and the solution would be to have more programs in which our youth could join to be able to get away from gangs.
